The Fogel Lab (Principal Investigator Dr. Brent Fogel) seeks to understand basic molecular mechanisms underlying human neurodevelopment and neurodegenerative disease. We are currently examining genes which influence the development of two classes of neurogenetic disease: 1) autism and autistic spectrum disorder, and 2) hereditary ataxia. Our goal is to better understand the molecular etiologies behind these diseases in order to improve diagnosis and clinical treatment for patients and their families.
